MAPS Medical Pain Clinics
Starting January 18th, Pat Tomshine CNP will be at the Crystal clinic to offer service and consult patients who are dealing with chronic pain issues. Pat has a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and is also certified in Public Health Nursing. Prior to Joining MAPS, Pat worked in an internal medicine clinic and gained valuable experience in neurosurgery and gastroenterology. Dr. Jonathan Tallman to start at the Crystal clinic.
Northwest Family Physicians would like to introduce their latest addition to their Crystal physician staff, Dr. Johanthan Tallman. Dr. Tallman is scheduled to start Monday January 23rd. Dr. Tallman has over 14 years of experience and is board certified in Family Medicine. He enjoys all aspects of family medicine including Dermatologic procedures, Joint Injections, Travel Medicine, Infectious Disease Management and OB.
New Hire
Northwest Family Physicians is very excited to announce that they have hired a new physician for the Crystal office. Dr. Ruby Tam has been hired and is planning to start September 5, 2012. Dr. Tam is in her last year of residency at Methodist. She is planning on working a full-time schedule, do OB and also participate in our hospital rounding rotation.
Dr. Ruby Tam, spent her childhood and teenage years in Hong Kong. She studied chemical engineering at the University of Minnesota, then moved to California and got her master's degree in chemistry at San Jose State University. Dr. Tam worked nine years as a process/project development scientist before going to medical school at Des Moines University.
Dr. Daniel Hanson is seeing patients
at Northwest Family Physicians- Crystal and Rogers locations
Northwest Family Physicians welcomes Dr. Daniel Hanson, M.D., F.A.A.O.S., to see patients at its Rogers, and Crystal, MN locations. Dr. Hanson is an experienced spine surgeon with Midwest Spine Institute and is a native of Minnesota. Dr. Hanson provides clinical assessment and treatment for all patients with spine pathology.
February 27th open date set for new clinic
Northwest Family Physicians has set February 27th 2012 as the official date for the opening of the new Crystal Clinic and Crystal Urgent Care. The clinic plans to close operations at the Crystal Gallery Mall location Friday afternoon the 24th. Look for more information to come regarding the official Grand Opening this spring.

During the months of October and November, Minnesota Sun Newspapers, Inc. conducted a Reader's Choice survey. They put in the center spread of their paper, a form that readers can fill out and mail in or they can go online to vote for their "Fav's".
Readers are asked to fill in their "Fav" for each category - so it is not a multiple choice option. And, readers can pick any business in the Twin Cities so it does not need to be solely in the city in which they live.

“Construction begins on new Imaging Center”
On December 5th construction began on the new Crystal Imaging Center which will be a part of the new Crystal Medical Center and future new home of the Northwest Family Physicians Crystal clinic. This new facility will provide digital x-ray, digital Mammography, ultrasound, Dexa scanning, CT and MRI. Northwest Family Physicians has partnered with Minneapolis Radiology who will be the provider for the professional medical interpretation of the exams.

Northwest Family Physicians is certified by the State of Minnesota to become a Health Care Home.
What is a health care home?
A health care home is not a place, but an approach to delivering care. NWFP will build on our solid foundation of providing high quality low cost care by offering additional services to health care home participants. Patients who choose to participate in the health care home will be assigned to a care coordinator, be a part of their care team, develop a care plan, and meet with the care coordinator between office visits.

Colonoscopy
Colon cancer screening with a colonoscopy is now available at both our Plymouth and Crystal offices. A colonoscopy is recommended starting at age 50 and is an effective exam for detecting pre-cancerous polyps or colon cancer at an early treatable stage.
With many insurance plans now having high deductibles and co-insurance it is important for you to know that having a colonoscopy in a clinic office setting is significantly less costly that if it were to be preformed at a hospital.
